Director – Plant Controlling

About the role

Provides leadership and management oversight for the plant controlling organization. Establishes economic strategies, objectives, and policies to drive financial and manufacturing performance.

Key responsibilities

• Directs plant business planning, forecasting, month‑end and year‑end closing, and cost variance analysis.
• Derives and steers measures to improve plant cost performance and achieve short‑ and long‑term value‑added cost targets.
• Develops performance measures aligned with the company’s strategic direction and participates in executive plant leadership decisions.
• Leads financial aspects of lean manufacturing and value‑stream management initiatives.
• Prepares reports summarising and forecasting income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.
• Manages capital request and budgeting processes, reviewing proposals and providing justification.
• Ensures record‑keeping meets auditor and government requirements and oversees risk reporting.
• Supports inventory accuracy improvement and oversees plant cost calculations for acquisitions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Manufacturing Accounting, Business Management or related field; 10+ years of relevant experience; Master’s preferred.
• Extensive financial/manufacturing controlling experience, preferably in a plant environment.
• Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills; ability to work with minimal direction in a fast‑paced, matrixed organization.
• Experience partnering with executive teams and leading cross‑functional initiatives across multiple locations.

Required skills

• Advanced language and mathematical skills, including calculation of discounts, interest, IRR and NPV.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and affiliated software packages; daily use of SAP.
• Ability to interpret complex data, draw valid conclusions and make independent decisions.
