About the role
Applied Materials is seeking a senior leader to define and execute the laser and optics technology strategy for advanced logic, memory, power and packaging products. The Director will drive new product development, support the installed base, and lead cross‑functional teams to deliver innovative laser annealing solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Define long‑term laser and optics roadmaps, identify emerging technologies and set investment priorities aligned with customer and product plans.
- Lead development of next‑generation laser annealing platforms, including system architecture, high‑power subsystems, beam shaping, metrology and safety.
- Own technical strategy for released products, driving continuous improvement in productivity, reliability, cost and serviceability.
- Manage strategic supplier relationships, evaluate technology readiness, and lead joint development programs.
- Oversee external engineering partners, create statements of work, and ensure deliverables meet performance, schedule and cost targets.
- Provide technical leadership during customer engagements, escalations and roadmap discussions.
Required profile
- Proven experience with laser annealing, laser spike or millisecond annealing systems and kW‑class high‑power lasers.
- Strong background in advanced optical system design for high‑power applications and wafer temperature metrology/pyrometry.
- Demonstrated ability to manage strategic suppliers and outsourced engineering development teams.
- Track record of leading cross‑functional product development in semiconductor capital equipment.
