Director of Human Resources

About the role

The Director of Human Resources for Walton College will lead the university’s HR strategy, ensuring effective talent acquisition, employee development, and compliance across all academic and support units. This senior position reports to senior university leadership and partners closely with faculty, staff, and students to foster a positive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs aligned with university goals.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives for faculty, staff, and student employees.
• Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and compliance with federal, state, and campus regulations.
• Lead compensation, benefits administration, and payroll processes.
• Supervise the HR team, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development.
• Drive HR analytics and reporting to support strategic decision‑making.
• Ensure the effective use of the Workday HRIS system for all HR transactions.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• Extensive experience in senior HR leadership roles, preferably in higher education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, labor relations, and HR best practices.
• Proven ability to manage complex HR operations and lead cross‑functional teams.
