About the role
The Texas A&M Semiconductor Institute seeks a seasoned leader to direct fabrication and facility operations in its newly built semiconductor research lab. This senior position oversees a full suite of process tools, ensures safety and regulatory compliance, and drives operational efficiency for cutting‑edge wafer and coupon research.
Key responsibilities
- Lead day‑to‑day operations of a comprehensive semiconductor fab, including photolithography, thin‑film deposition, plasma and wet etch, diffusion/thermal processing, and post‑wafer processing.
- Implement and enforce rigorous safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Manage equipment maintenance, repairs, and upgrades for wafer fab support equipment, cleanroom mechanical systems, vacuum pumps, and deionized water systems.
- Develop and execute operational strategies that maximize throughput, product quality, and research output.
- Provide systematic training for staff and research users on tool usage and best practices.
- Serve as a technical resource to guide tool selection and utilization, minimizing downtime and defects.
Required profile
- Extensive hands‑on experience with semiconductor process tools and fab environments.
- Proven leadership in managing complex facility operations.
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory standards in a research or production setting.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a focus on continuous improvement.
