Director of Communications

About the role

Cardless is seeking a hands‑on Director of Communications to own its public‑relations function. You will shape and execute the press, media, and executive visibility strategy that builds credibility for the company and its partners.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with fintech, payments and consumer‑brand reporters, editors and outlets, proactively pitching stories that align with each outlet’s focus.
• Drive executive visibility by securing interviews, bylines, panel appearances and speaking opportunities, and preparing leaders with talking points and briefing materials.
• Lead partner and launch announcements, coordinating joint communications with partners, product and business‑development teams to turn each launch into a cohesive press moment.
• Own PR operations and reporting, drafting releases, media kits and briefing documents, tracking coverage quality, maintaining media lists and flagging reputational risks.

Required profile

• Established media relationships with journalists covering fintech, payments or consumer brands.
• Strong news judgment to identify and shape stories that resonate with the press.
• Ability to coach executives for interviews and public speaking.
• Excellent writing skills for press releases, statements and talking points with minimal revisions.
• Proven cross‑functional coordination experience, managing joint announcements with partners and internal teams.
• Calm composure under pressure, responding proactively to unexpected coverage.
