Director, Media Relations

About the role

LSG, an impact agency specializing in public affairs and corporate reputation, is looking for a Director of Media Relations to join its Washington, DC team. The role will lead media strategy for a diverse client portfolio, helping shape public narratives and manage reputational risk in a fast‑moving political environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute earned‑media strategies, cultivating relationships with journalists, editors, producers and influencers across the Beltway and national outlets.
• Secure media placements, pitch op‑eds, thought‑leadership pieces and interviews to advance client objectives.
• Provide rapid‑response counsel during high‑profile or politically sensitive moments and advise clients on narrative development.
• Collaborate with digital, grassroots and policy teams to integrate media tactics into broader campaigns.
• Mentor junior staff, contribute to service‑line development and support business‑development activities such as proposal writing and new‑business pitching.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in communications, media relations or public affairs, preferably inside the Beltway (Capitol Hill, White House or similar).
• Proven track record securing coverage with leading outlets and building journalist relationships.
• Experience in fast‑moving, politically charged environments with exposure to crisis communications.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills, able to craft persuasive messaging.
• Demonstrated project‑management ability to juggle multiple client accounts and tight deadlines.

• Base salary $95,000‑$130,000 per year plus performance bonus eligibility.
