Director, Marketing and Communications

About the role

The Director of Marketing and Communications leads Texas A&M Innovation’s brand, messaging, and demand‑generation activities. Reporting to the Executive Director, this senior leader shapes external narratives, supports inventor outreach, and drives commercialization impact across the Texas A&M University System.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute brand strategy and communications plans that raise awareness of research and technology assets.
• Lead demand‑generation campaigns targeting industry partners, investors, and prospective startups.
• Craft compelling stories that translate complex scientific work into clear, market‑focused narratives.
• Support technology marketing, industry partnership development, and ecosystem‑building initiatives.
• Oversee inventor outreach, startup formation support, and impact storytelling to showcase commercialization outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven senior marketing leadership experience, preferably in a research or higher‑education environment.
• Ability to communicate scientific concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Strategic thinker with a builder’s mindset and strong execution capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
