Director, Data Modernization & Digital Solutions

About the role

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is looking for a Director, Data & Digital Modernization to provide strategic and technical leadership in scaling its digital footprint within U.S. health and education sectors. The role bridges business development and project delivery, standardizes the digital toolkit, designs data solutions for new proposals and advises projects through their lifecycle. It reports to the EVP, HSD, works with the IT team (including the AI Manager) and may supervise a team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop technical win themes and data architecture solutions for proposals, partnering with Account Leads and Business Development
• Define a standardization strategy for digital tools and build a documented library of scalable solutions for federal and state clients
• Monitor digital health and education trends and represent JSI as a thought leader in digital and AI
• Build a strategic partnership approach using a build, buy, borrow framework for federal and state markets
• Lead technical execution of data-scope projects, advise on project launches and set data standards and infrastructure
• Establish quality standards for digital products and lead accurate cost applications in proposals
• Advise on build vs. buy decisions and optimize technology spend with IT
• Act as a senior technical liaison to federal and state agency leads
• Survey division skills, train staff and direct a multidisciplinary team

Required profile

• Master's degree in Health or Education Informatics, Computer Science, Public Health or a related field, or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of progressive experience leading data and digital modernization projects in U.S. public health, healthcare or education, including senior project leadership or technical advisory roles
• Track record of winning technical solutions for federal or state solicitations
• Fluent oral and written English; willing to travel domestically up to 15-20%
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
