Director, Chemical Production Operations

About the role

Alcon is seeking a senior leader to head its Chemical Production Operations at the John’s Creek, GA manufacturing site. The Director will shape strategy, drive operational excellence, and ensure regulatory compliance for the production of eye‑care pharmaceuticals and contact‑lens solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Chemical Production Operations department, defining and executing strategic plans.
• Oversee processing of ingredients, pharmaceutical products, contact lenses, saline solutions, and compound mixes.
• Maintain equipment, enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ensure GxP compliance.
• Make critical departmental decisions, manage resources, and approve projects.
• Monitor quality using statistical process control and other control procedures.
• Drive process‑improvement initiatives, cost reduction, and schedule optimization.
• Foster a culture of excellence through performance management, talent development, and safety leadership.
• Stay current with industry advances and apply agile problem‑solving techniques.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (e.g., high school + 18 years, Associate + 14 years, M.S. + 7 years, PhD + 6 years).
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional teams in a regulated environment.
