Director, AI Security & Governance

About the role

Digital Asset is building the infrastructure that underpins institutional finance on distributed ledger technology, and AI is becoming central to its operations, product development, and client services. The Director, AI Security & Governance will be the first dedicated owner of AI risk, responsible for designing, securing, governing, and accounting for AI systems across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for business and product teams deploying AI, translating use cases into secure, privacy‑aware technical designs.
• Define and maintain AI architecture standards, data classification requirements, and an inventory of AI models in production.
• Partner with Business Units and the IT Security team to threat‑model AI systems, manage access controls, and lead AI‑specific incident response.
• Own AI risk management documentation, regulatory inquiry handling, and produce monthly AI cost and risk reports for the AI Advisory Council.
• Establish cost‑attribution and charge‑back frameworks for AI services in collaboration with Finance and Engineering.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in information security, technology risk, or a related discipline, preferably in financial services or another regulated industry.
• Deep understanding of large language models and AI security risks, with the ability to communicate technical risk to legal, compliance, finance, and executive audiences.
• Proven ability to build governance functions from scratch and operate without a predefined playbook.

Required skills

• Experience with cloud AI platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Hands‑on knowledge of API‑based AI service integrations.
• Familiarity with large language models and their security considerations.

• Base salary range $230,000‑$290,000 USD, determined based on experience and scope of responsibility.
