About the role
The Dimensional Control Technician (DCT) will survey and process 3‑D data to create usable information for ship and submarine projects. Using laser trackers, photogrammetry systems, total stations, CMM arms and laser scanners, the DCT turns raw measurements into detailed reports and working drawings that support installation and fabrication activities.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct 3‑D surveys of piping, machinery components and structures with Faro/API laser trackers, Inca V‑Star photogrammetry, total stations, CMM arms and laser scanners.
- Process survey data in Spatial Analyzer, generate acceptance/rejection reports, and create 3‑D models using SolidWorks or other modeling software.
- Produce working drawings and installation fixtures for onboard ship or shop assemblies.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to develop production processes and in‑process checks for complex steel structures.
- Perform measurement surveys on back‑shifts or weekends to mitigate temperature effects.
- Install deck, hull and bulkhead systems, fabricate alignment fixtures, and follow detailed repair procedures.
Required profile
- High School/GED with apprenticeship, technical school or equivalent marine mechanical experience.
- Ability to obtain government base access and work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, ethical standards and capability to communicate with Production, Engineering and Quality teams.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, high humidity, noise and dust conditions.
