Diesel Mechanic – Full-Time – Grand Rapids

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a full‑time Diesel Mechanic for its Grand Rapids service center. The role involves maintaining a fleet of Class 8 trucks, trailers and related equipment, ensuring reliable operation and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance on diesel trucks, trailers and forklifts.
• Execute minor to major repairs on Class 8 trucks, including engines, AC, electrical systems, lift gates, overhead doors, dollies and welding as needed.
• Maintain trailers, lift gates, and other auxiliary equipment to keep the fleet operational.

Required profile

• Experience in preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel engines.
• Ability to handle major repairs and work with AC and electrical systems.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb and possession of personal tools.
• 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred, with knowledge of Cummins and Detroit engines.
• Familiarity with Cetaris work‑order system and trailer preventative maintenance.
