About the role
Applied Materials seeks a DfSafety and Reliability Engineer to lead safety and reliability initiatives for semiconductor equipment. You will work closely with product safety engineering, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and mitigate risks using FMECA and Design Verification Tests.
- Collaborate with Product Safety Engineering to meet Applied Minimum Product Safety Requirements.
- Interpret and apply industry standards such as SEMI S2, IPC 610D, IPC 9592, IEC/EN 61000, JESD22, MIL‑STD‑810, and UL/CE/TUV.
- Develop new acceleration techniques and analytical tools for early safety and reliability issue detection.
- Propose procedural improvements to prevent equipment damage or injury.
- Prepare and present safety and reliability reports.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis of field failures and work with suppliers on corrective actions.
- Automate data analysis using AI to enhance reliability assessments.
Required profile
- Deep expertise in semiconductor equipment, especially single‑point‑of‑failure products.
- Strong knowledge of derating, thermal management, and component life‑extension strategies.
- Proven ability to lead complex reliability problem‑solving efforts.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting technical concepts and influencing stakeholders.
- Experience automating data analysis and applying AI techniques.
