Design Engineer

About the role

Runway Labs is seeking a passionate Design Engineer to help prototype and ship novel AI‑driven video and world‑model experiences. You will work in a fast‑moving research lab, collaborating with engineers, researchers, and product designers to turn cutting‑edge concepts into usable tools.

Key responsibilities

• Prototype and implement interactive experiences at the intersection of AI video, world models, and generative media.
• Design and build agentic tools that let researchers and creatives direct AI systems in real time.
• Explore new application areas for AI video and world models, from simulation to research tooling.
• Create internal tools and frameworks used across design and engineering teams.

Required profile

• Self‑starter with experience collaborating closely with engineering and research teams.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, research‑oriented environments where problem spaces are still being defined.
• Strong visual and interaction design sense with experience in usability testing.

Required skills

• Experience designing flows, prototypes, and high‑fidelity UIs for web and agentic products.
• Experience building agentic tools or interfaces where AI takes actions, reasons over state, or drives multi‑step workflows.
