Design Automation Engineer II

About the role

MiniMed is seeking a Design Automation Engineer II to develop and apply CAD software engineering methods for medical device manufacturing. The role works on high‑volume, high‑precision automated equipment and supports the full automation lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain CAD software, utility programs, and automation routines for PLCs, motion control, vision systems, robotics and PC‑controlled equipment.
• Assess hardware limitations, define technical projects, and create design specifications, analysis, and recommendations.
• Provide technical support for SOPs, qualification protocols, risk assessments, validation plans, and change controls.
• Participate in technical meetings, review testing documentation, and support day‑to‑day automation troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (or advanced degree with 0 years).
• Experience in medical devices, pharmaceutical or electronic industry is a plus.

Required skills

• CAD software development and automation engineering.
• PLC programming (Allen Bradley), servo motion control, machine vision (Cognex), robotics/Cobots.
• Object‑oriented programming (C#, VB.Net, Java) and SQL Server/database design.
• MES integration, HMI development, network design, and instrumentation.
• Design for Excellence (DFX), PFMEA, risk‑based computer system validation, Minitab.
