Deputy Chief Development Officer

About the role

The Deputy Chief Development Officer (Deputy CDO) partners directly with the Chief Development Officer to shape and execute MSF USA’s fundraising strategy. This senior leader drives the operational engine that sustains and expands diversified revenue streams for the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead core department processes including annual and multi‑year planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.
• Promote efficient cross‑team collaboration and disciplined donor pipeline management.
• Ensure audience teams align around a shared donor journey from mid‑level to major gifts and legacy giving.
• Establish clear criteria for major initiatives, develop business cases, and oversee implementation.
• Identify and pursue strategic prospecting opportunities that create long‑term value for the movement.
• Build trust and loyalty with existing and potential donors through targeted cultivation and engagement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in one‑to‑one, relationship‑based fundraising.
• Proven ability to partner with senior leadership on strategic and operational matters.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on data‑informed investment decisions.
• Excellent planning, budgeting, and performance‑management skills.
