Dental Assistant 2 – Mobile Dental Practice (Georgia)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Dental Assistant 2 to support chair‑side dentistry in a mobile clinic that serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across 26 rural counties. The position is based at East Central Regional Hospital – Gracewood Campus in Augusta, GA, with daily travel to community facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide chair‑side assistance during examinations, preventive, restorative and surgical procedures.
• Prepare, transfer, and anticipate instrument and material needs for each patient.
• Maintain a clear operating field using suction wands, air‑water syringes, and cotton rolls.
• Sanitize instruments and equipment, follow infection‑control protocols, and ensure operational readiness of the mobile unit.
• Travel daily across 26 rural counties to deliver dental care at IDD Day Service Centers and other community sites.

Required profile

• Compassionate and skilled Dental Assistant with experience in chair‑side support.
• Ability to work in a mobile environment and travel regularly.
• Commitment to serving underserved populations and promoting health equity.
