Dealer Commercial Services Senior Underwriting Associate

About the role

Santander Dealer Commercial Services (DCS) is seeking a Senior Underwriting Associate to manage credit risk for a portfolio of complex multi‑dealer groups. You will evaluate financing requests, analyze dealer financial statements and cash flow, and ensure compliance with underwriting standards and bank regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and prepare accurate loan proposals or modifications for automotive dealers.
• Manage annual renewals, new business loan requests, and modifications with urgency.
• Conduct end‑to‑end underwriting, reviewing loan applications, financial statements, tax returns, and collateral.
• Monitor portfolio performance, review up‑to‑date financials, and track past‑due and upcoming loan reports.
• Interface with customers and internal partners to gather data for analysis.
• Review credit memos prepared by junior staff before submission to senior management.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess credit risk within the organization’s credit culture.
• Experience reviewing corporate tax returns, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple proposals, and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and knowledge of banking regulations.
