Data Scientist – Measurement & Modeling

About the role

Samba is seeking a hands‑on Data Scientist to own and deliver complex measurement science and modeling work for its audience‑measurement products. You will work closely with Data Engineering, Product, and go‑to‑market teams to build production‑grade machine‑learning solutions that power campaign measurement, reach/frequency estimation, and cross‑platform attribution.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain production‑quality Python code, including PySpark pipelines for billion‑row viewership datasets.
• Design, build, and deploy statistical and ML models such as hierarchical models, Bayesian inference, gradient‑boosting, regularized regression, causal ML, and probabilistic record linkage.
• Develop multi‑touch and multi‑channel attribution models using counterfactual techniques and meta‑learners (S‑learner, T‑learner, X‑learner).
• Partner with Data Engineering to define data requirements, validate pipelines, and ensure reliable, scalable model inputs.
• Lead technical design reviews, mentor junior data scientists, and communicate methodologies to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of professional data‑science experience with a track record of shipping production models.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to make defensible methodological decisions under ambiguity.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting findings to senior leadership and external clients.

Required skills

• Expert‑level Python programming (clean, modular, testable code).
• Proficiency with PySpark for large‑scale data processing.
• Experience with hierarchical models, Bayesian inference, gradient boosting, regularized regression.
• Knowledge of causal ML methods, probabilistic record linkage, and multi‑touch attribution.
• Familiarity with meta‑learners (S‑learner, T‑learner, X‑learner) and heterogeneous treatment‑effect estimation.
