Data Scientist

About the role

The Golden State Warriors are seeking a Data Scientist to join their multidisciplinary analytics team. In this remote, full‑time position you will develop predictive models that support basketball operations and help drive long‑term decision making. You will collaborate closely with data engineers to deploy and monitor your solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deploy and monitor predictive models for basketball operations.
• Build and engineer features for predictive modeling.
• Partner with data analysts to integrate model results into decision‑making processes.
• Analyze large data sets to uncover trends and patterns.
• Stay current with advances in data science and basketball analytics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of experience working on data analytics teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong presentation skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Passion for basketball and curiosity to explore data.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Predictive‑modeling libraries such as Keras, scikit‑learn, XGBoost, PyMC3.
• SQL and relational databases.
• Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Git version control.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with scalable ETL/ELT processes (preferred).
• Familiarity with distributed computing or streaming frameworks (preferred).
