Data Scientist – Azure AI/ML Platform

About the role

The Data Scientist will own the data backbone of our Azure‑based AI/ML engineering platform, turning historical design and simulation results into clean, structured datasets and ensuring model trustworthiness before they influence engineering decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks to structure engineering design parameters and simulation results for ML use.
• Conduct statistical and exploratory analysis to identify design parameters that most strongly drive performance outcomes.
• Validate model outputs against ground‑truth simulation data, flagging data‑quality issues that could bias downstream models.
• Track model and pipeline performance over time and create Power BI dashboards that give engineering teams visibility into data and model health.
• Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) principles to sample the design space efficiently.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience building and validating AI/ML models, not just data preparation.
• 10+ years in a data‑science role, preferably with engineering, simulation, or scientific data.
• Strong Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn) and SQL skills.
• Comfortable with Azure data tools (Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse) or equivalent cloud stacks.
• Solid grounding in statistics: hypothesis testing, regression, DOE, variance/sensitivity analysis.
• Experience with data‑visualisation/dashboard tools such as Power BI.
