Data Scientist Associate – Payments Analytics

About the role

Join the Merchant Services Data & Analytics team at JPMorgan Chase to apply data science, research, and modern generative AI to drive measurable impact for payments clients. You will work on analytics projects that generate insights and build intelligent solutions to improve payment performance and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualize and deliver analytics and automation solutions that enhance business processes and client outcomes.
• Build payments insights to help merchants optimize authorization performance, chargebacks, and total cost of payments.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, datasets, and dashboards using Snowflake, Python, SQL, and Tableau.
• Prototype generative AI features, including prompt design and refinement, aligned to user needs.
• Design, execute, and document testing to validate reliability, quality, and effectiveness of solutions.
• Monitor model performance, identify enhancement opportunities, and implement updates.
• Partner with data owners, engineers, and business stakeholders to support data model development and analytics methods.
• Support internal insights applications and external merchant analytics requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in data analytics, data science, or a related role.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and workflow development.
• Experience applying quantitative research methods to real business problems.
• Knowledge of machine learning concepts, techniques, and common tooling.
• Experience with large language models and agent‑based AI techniques.
• Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills.
