Data Governance and Protection Analyst

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Data Governance and Protection Analyst to join its Legal & Compliance organization. The role will help advance enterprise data protection by designing, implementing and continuously improving scalable solutions that safeguard sensitive information while enabling business innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and support strategy, implementation and continuous improvement of enterprise data discovery, classification and handling practices.
• Enable AI‑enabled agents, workflow automation and analytics solutions with appropriate teams and tools.
• Partner with business groups to translate data governance and protection requirements into practical operating models.
• Maintain sensitivity labeling, classification taxonomy and data handling frameworks for accurate identification and protection of sensitive data.
• Create advanced analytics, metrics, dashboards and executive‑ready reporting to monitor data protection posture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Program Management, Risk Management, Information Management, Data Governance, Information Security or a related field.
• 4–7 years of experience in data governance, data protection, cybersecurity or technical program management.
• Proven ability to partner with cross‑functional stakeholders including Legal, Information Security and compliance teams.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills, with experience presenting to executive audiences.

Required skills

• Experience with Congruity 360 or Microsoft Purview (or similar data governance tools).
• Programming, scripting and automation experience for workflow and AI‑enabled solutions.
• Data visualization and dashboarding expertise, including PowerPoint for executive reporting.
