Customer Solutions Engineer – Manufacturing Diagnostics

About the role

The Customer Solutions Engineer (CSE) will drive business growth for ETAS Manufacturing Diagnostics by identifying new market opportunities, partnering with customers and sales teams, and aligning customer needs with innovative diagnostic solutions. The role acts as a technical and strategic interface between customers, sales, and product management, supporting pre‑sales activities, solution development, and product roadmap evolution.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and lead new business opportunities, markets and customer segments to ensure sustainable growth.
• Serve as the strategic link between Sales, Customers, and Product teams, feeding market insights into product roadmaps.
• Participate in pre‑sales activities, demonstrate products such as the VCATS system, and create technical documentation and training material.
• Gather and analyse customer feedback, perform cost‑benefit analyses and support commercial negotiations.
• Clarify customer requirements, draft user requirement documents and define acceptance criteria.
• Deploy, configure and test hardware and software solutions on‑site, lead verification, troubleshooting and validation activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in the automotive industry and technology.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or related discipline.
• Willingness to travel up to 50 % of the time.

Required skills

• Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic protocols (e.g., ISO14229, ISO15765, KWP2000, J1939, ISO14230, ISO13400).
• IT systems and networking (Windows 10, VMware/VirtualBox, TCP/IP, DHCP).
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and data formats such as XML, ODX, OTX.
• Proficiency with packet capture tools (Wireshark, CAN/DoIP logs) and ability to read electrical schematics.
• Programming in C++ and JavaScript; strong debugging and fault‑finding skills.
• Familiarity with agile/lean frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, OKR) and JIRA for backlog management.
