County Liaison Officer – Scurry (Texas)

About the role

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is seeking a County Liaison Officer for Scurry County, based in Snyder, Texas. The role supports the planning, development, and implementation of local emergency management programs and provides technical assistance to county officials, agencies, and community groups. The officer will work on‑site, operate a fleet vehicle, and be ready to respond during emergencies, including after‑hours and weekend activations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate emergency management programs with local governments, volunteer groups, TDEM, and other state and federal agencies.
• Provide incident management and technical assistance during planned and unplanned events.
• Assist local officials with disaster recovery and financial assistance programs.
• Evaluate program progress, produce recommendations, and brief senior officials as needed.
• Support local Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) and the Disaster District Emergency Operations Center (DDEOC) during activations.

Required profile

• Willingness to reside in Scurry County within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and deploy for prolonged periods after a disaster.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with multiple agencies and the public.
• Experience in emergency management, incident command, or related public safety fields.
