Counselor (0.75 FTE) – College Counseling Center

About the role

The Counseling Center at St. Olaf College seeks a part‑time Counselor (0.75 FTE) to provide mental‑health services to students from September through May. The role is on‑site, Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑5 pm, with occasional emergency calls and evening or weekend activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual, couples, and group counseling using a short‑term therapy model (≈60% of time).
• Conduct intakes, assessments, referrals, after‑care planning, crisis management, and drop‑in consultations.
• Maintain accurate case‑management records and communication with students and partners (≈15% of time).
• Participate in clinical consultation and supervision, providing feedback and generating ideas (≈10% of time).
• Design and implement prevention and post‑vention educational programs, workshops, and trainings for students, faculty, and staff (≈7% of time).
• Supervise graduate therapy practicum students in group settings (≈5% of time).
• Offer consultation to faculty, staff, parents, and students (≈2% of time).
• Engage in continuing education and maintain professional licensure (≈1% of time).

Required profile

• Master’s degree in clinical/counseling psychology, social work, or a related field.
• Eligibility for Minnesota licensure within one year of start date.
• At least one year of post‑graduate clinical experience serving young adults.
• Ability to provide short‑term therapy, crisis assessment, and case management.
