Counsel, Regulatory, Competition & Litigation

About the role

Lyft is looking for a proactive attorney to join its Litigation team as a trusted advisor across the business. The role focuses on managing complex litigation, regulatory disputes, government investigations, and competition matters while providing strategic counsel to internal partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hands‑on litigation work, including discovery, motions, settlement negotiations, trial and appellate strategy.
• Provide proactive legal advice on regulatory and competition issues affecting Lyft’s products and services.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as Compliance, Public Policy, Communications, Customer Care, Product, Marketplace, and Lyft Urban Solutions.
• Manage outside counsel, overseeing staffing, budgeting, and alignment with Lyft’s overall legal strategy.
• Develop strategic recommendations for internal stakeholders to mitigate legal risk.

Required profile

• J.D. from a top‑tier law school and active membership in at least one state bar.
• 5+ years of civil litigation experience, preferably at a mid‑ to large‑size firm or regulatory agency.
• Experience with regulatory disputes, government investigations, competition matters, and complex consumer class actions.
• Strong problem‑solving, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while being a collaborative team player.
