About the role
The Correctional Officer Trainee program provides eight weeks of formalized, on‑the‑job training in security and custodial duties for the Illinois Department of Corrections. Trainees will learn essential skills to maintain safety and order within state correctional facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Complete eight weeks of formalized security and custodial training.
- Perform security duties and custodial tasks under supervision at a correctional center.
- Participate in a graduation ceremony, receive a certificate, badge, and be sworn in.
Required profile
- Physically fit to meet the screening standards prior to training.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
- Bilingual skills are welcome.
