About the role

Santander is seeking a motivated professional to join its Corporate & Investment Banking team as a FIG Underwriter & Portfolio Manager Associate. The role involves underwriting and managing a portfolio of FIG loan relationships while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the deal diligence process, identifying key risks and reviewing data‑room documents, sponsor information, and third‑party reports.
• Assist in structuring deals and overseeing the internal approval workflow, ensuring timely and accurate write‑ups.
• Manage the legal aspects of the deal process and coordinate with internal stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members on underwriting best practices.
• Support the department manager on projects aimed at loan growth and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial analysis, structuring, underwriting, and portfolio management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical abilities and proficiency with financial statements.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and collaborate effectively with teams.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
