Coordinator of Counseling Services

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a Coordinator of Counseling Services to lead student wellness initiatives at Athens Technical College. This position will serve as the primary liaison for counseling programs, crisis intervention, and behavioral intervention efforts across campus.

Key responsibilities

• Actively communicate counseling services and the Behavioral Intervention Team to faculty, staff, and students through presentations and programming.
• Oversee counseling referrals to community partners and ensure timely follow‑up.
• Promote, administer, and monitor utilization of the student wellness platform campus‑wide.
• Provide student crisis intervention in partnership with campus safety and community resources.
• Develop, implement, and monitor annual budgets for the counseling department.
• Maintain accurate information on the college website and update catalog sections related to counseling and intervention services.
• Coordinate alcohol and drug prevention programs and related events.
• Chair the college’s Behavioral Intervention Team, facilitating team‑based crisis response and safety planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, educational administration, vocational leadership or a related field, plus two years of relevant experience (experience may substitute for the degree year‑for‑year).
• Preferred: Master’s degree, case‑management experience with diverse student populations, and knowledge of crisis intervention and safety planning.
