Cook - Concord Pavilion

About the role

A Cook prepares, executes and delivers safely handled food to customer-facing employees at the Concord Pavilion venue. The role involves food handling, storage, kitchen upkeep and supporting the service team, with a flexible schedule covering days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and store food deliveries, following FIFO (first in, first out) by labelling and dating items and rotating stock on shelves
• Notify the manager or chef of any expired product
• Report for scheduled events on time, follow prep lists and timelines, and complete opening and closing duties with the manager or supervisor
• Carry out assigned tasks in a timely, safe way using correct recipes, and keep walk-in coolers, reach-ins, dry storage and work areas clean and sanitary
• Maintain a clean, orderly kitchen, know the kitchen layout and be able to direct staff and guests, and stay aware of other food and beverage outlets in the venue
• Communicate with supervisors, attendants, runners, chefs and management, and work as a team with other service departments
• Be able to move quickly, stand for long periods, lift at least 30 pounds, walk long distances and work in a fast-paced kitchen in close quarters

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent; a culinary arts degree or certificate is preferred
• 2 to 4 years of experience in a fast-paced restaurant, caterer or other food service area
• Basic English speaking and reading ability
• Punctual, dependable, able to work under pressure and adapt to change quickly
• Personal hygiene and a well-groomed appearance

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of the menus being offered, including specials
• Ability to read and retain recipes, prep lists, menus and signage
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
• Proactive, self-motivated, organized and able to prioritize
