Construction Superintendent – NYC School Projects

About the role

Jacobs is looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) Emergency Program. The Superintendent will manage daily field operations across multiple school sites, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, and ensure safety, quality, and documentation standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Organize, schedule and supervise daily and weekly activities of all subcontractors and vendors.
• Identify and resolve construction challenges proactively to keep projects on track.
• Maintain accurate project records, including daily logs, timekeeping, and cost records.
• Supervise self‑performed work and implement innovative construction methods to improve job‑site efficiency.
• Track material deliveries, ensure timely submittal approvals, and monitor long‑lead items.
• Oversee receiving processes, inspect materials for quantity and quality, and manage receiving documentation.
• Prepare and support job‑site reporting requirements such as daily reports, RFIs, change orders, weekly unit reports, look‑ahead schedules and monthly updates.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with contract documents and reporting standards.
• Attend required job‑site meetings and maintain quality assurance in line with SCA and Jacobs standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or a construction‑related field.
• Minimum eight years of full‑time experience in construction and design, with at least four years managing all phases of projects of similar scale.
• Experience with NYC public building projects and familiarity with NYC Department of Buildings filing, rules and requirements.
• Experience working with NYC public agencies such as SCA or NYCH.
