About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a licensed Deck Officer to support end‑of‑line testing and commissioning of its mid‑size autonomous surface vessel, Marauder. The role combines traditional navigation duties with hands‑on testing of cutting‑edge autonomous systems in diverse maritime environments.

Key responsibilities

• Safely navigate the vessel to and from operational testing sites.
• Stand a 12‑hour navigational watch while monitoring and operating autonomous systems.
• Assist the Captain in overall vessel operation and execution of mission objectives.
• Conduct builder trials and commissioning tests of autonomous hardware and software.
• Document test results and report findings to cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Valid U.S. Coast Guard Mate’s License (National 500/1600T minimum; Unlimited preferred).
• STCW Basic Training, GMDSS Operator, OICNW, and FCC License.
• Valid TWIC, USCG STCW Medical Certificate, and passport.
• Ability to stand a 12‑hour watch, pass background and drug tests, and meet security‑clearance eligibility.
• Physical fitness to swim, tread water, and lift up to 50 lb repeatedly.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with maritime navigation systems.
• U.S. Coast Guard Mate’s License.
• STCW Basic Training certification.
• GMDSS Operator certification.
• OICNW certification.
• FCC License.
• TWIC access.
