About the role
This on‑campus work‑study position supports the College of Arts & Sciences Planetarium office. The student will handle cashier duties for events and provide general administrative assistance.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as cashier for planetarium events.
- Answer telephone, written and in‑person inquiries about the planetarium.
- Provide backup support to other planetarium staff.
- Maintain positive working relationships with employees and visitors.
- Communicate clearly and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing.
Required profile
- Enrolled at least half‑time (6 credit hours for undergraduates, 3 for graduates).
- Maintain a GPA of 2.0 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate).
- Current, complete file with the Office of Financial Aid and annual FAFSA submission.
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non‑citizen.
- Meet all TAMIU Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to operate a cash register and handle monetary transactions.
