CNC Operator Level 3 – 2nd Shift

About the role

CNC Operator Level 3 – 2nd Shift. The following is a list of general responsibilities and skills necessary to perform the duties of the CNC Level 3 classification (labor grade 9).

Key responsibilities

• Operate all CNC equipment, including mills and lathes, and perform CNC Level 1 & 2 requirements.
• Set up and run machines according to work orders using blueprints, engineering plans, specifications and reference planes.
• Change tool inserts, monitor tool wear and maintain part specifications.
• Program and configure CNC machines by entering zero points, tool registers, offsets and part programs.
• Load work pieces, verify settings by measuring positions and first‑run parts.
• Monitor operations, take measurements, troubleshoot malfunctions and edit programs as needed.
• Collaborate with higher‑level CNC associates to troubleshoot and machine new products.
• Guide lower‑level CNC operators and coach them on advanced tasks.
• Perform basic service checks, adding coolant and oil according to documented procedures.

Required profile

• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
• Understanding and adherence to written policies and procedures.
• Availability for weekend and overtime assignments as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with M‑code and G‑code programming.
• Experience operating CNC milling and turning machines.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Tool setup, register and offset configuration.
• Basic mathematical calculations for measurements and tolerances.
