Cloud Engineer – Fully Remote (up to $85/hr)

About the role

Mercor is seeking a Cloud Engineer to work remotely on cutting‑edge AI‑assisted infrastructure projects. The position is a contract role paying up to $85 per hour, focused on evaluating and improving model‑generated cloud implementations.

Key responsibilities

• Use frontier AI coding agents to complete and assess complex infrastructure engineering tasks.
• Review and validate model‑generated implementations across cloud platforms, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and automation tools.
• Identify bugs, edge cases, reliability issues, and failure modes in AI‑produced code.
• Compare outputs from multiple AI models to determine strengths and weaknesses.
• Apply professional engineering judgment to realistic production scenarios.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and observability tooling.
• Regular use of AI coding agents (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI) and ability to evaluate their outputs.
