Climate Organizing Director

About the role

The Climate Organizing Director will lead the coalition’s efforts to build labor power for a worker‑ and community‑led transition to a just, climate‑safe economy. Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will work within a dynamic, multi‑racial alliance that connects workers, community groups, and climate justice advocates across California.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategy for the California Labor for Climate Jobs (CLCJ) coalition.
• Mobilize rank‑and‑file members and partner organizations around climate, economic, and racial‑justice issues.
• Coordinate statewide advocacy campaigns, policy development, and public actions.
• Build leadership capacity among member unions and community groups.
• Track and report on progress toward strategic victories for workers’ rights and good jobs in the low‑carbon economy.

Required profile

• Extensive experience directing organizing campaigns, preferably at the intersection of labor and climate justice.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑issue, multi‑racial coalitions.
• Strong strategic thinking and public‑policy advocacy skills.
• Passion for protecting workers’ rights in the era of climate change.
