Civil Engineer - Land Development

About the role

At Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF) we design, enhance, maintain and protect the communities where people live, work and play. As a Civil Engineer focused on land development you will plan, design and permit water, sewer, roadway and stormwater infrastructure for residential and commercial projects, including subdivisions.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize design software and CAD tools to create and permit water, sanitary sewer, roadway, streetscape and stormwater conveyance projects.
• Coordinate plan reviews and project planning with private contractors, clients and regulatory agencies.
• Perform civil design analysis, calculations and material estimations based on drawings, surveys and topographic data.
• Draft and present reports such as stormwater studies and right‑of‑way descriptions.
• Estimate project costs for materials, equipment and labor.
• Manage permitting processes with local agencies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Minimum four years of related civil engineering experience.
• Professional engineering license in Delaware or ability to obtain licensure within 12 months.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and other civil design software.
• Experience in civil design analysis and project cost estimation.
