Civil Engineer – Land Development – Entry Level

About the role

At Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF) we design, enhance, maintain and protect the communities where we live and work. This entry‑level position focuses on land grading, stormwater runoff, road, entrance, water distribution, sewer systems and related civil engineering tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize design software and computer‑aided drafting to plan and design water, sanitary sewer, roadway, streetscape and stormwater projects for residential and commercial sites.
• Coordinate with private contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies during plan reviews and permitting.
• Perform civil design analysis and calculations, reviewed by a supervisor.
• Interpret drawings, surveys, aerial photos and topographic data to develop project plans.
• Draft and present reports such as stormwater studies and right‑of‑way descriptions.
• Estimate materials, equipment and labor to determine project costs.
• Assist with permitting coordination and other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Four‑year civil engineering degree (or completion within the first 12 months of employment).
• General knowledge of AutoCAD and its application in land‑development engineering.
