Child Welfare Services Manager (Level 1)

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Manager 1 to join the Division of Family & Children Services in Augusta. Under supervision, you will learn to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for children and adults experiencing abuse or neglect.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to screened-in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement safety plans to address identified concerns.
• Conduct search efforts to locate children or families when contact is lost.
• Apply Solution Based Casework (SBC) and collaborate with families to create Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
• Complete genograms to map family support networks.
• Partner with community agencies to build support systems for children and families.
• Ensure visit frequency and quality meet safety, permanency, and well‑being standards.
• Identify and address physical, educational, and mental health needs of children, parents, and foster caregivers.
• Set permanency goals and monitor foster care placements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in social work or related field preferred.
• Ability to work under supervision while learning investigative and case management techniques.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with children, families, and community partners.
• Commitment to protecting vulnerable populations and promoting self‑sufficiency.
