Child Welfare Services Case Manager (Level 1)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to join the Division of Family & Children Services in Adel, Cook County. Reporting to the Child Welfare Services Supervisor, you will provide investigative and comprehensive case management for children and adults experiencing abuse or neglect.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement safety plans, conduct search efforts, and coordinate placement decisions.
• Partner with families to create and follow Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
• Maintain case documentation, genograms, and ensure regular, quality visits to promote safety, permanency, and well‑being.
• Identify and address physical, educational, and mental health needs of children, parents, and foster parents.
• Travel using a privately owned vehicle for work‑related duties, including transportation of children, and participate in on‑call rotations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• At least two years of case management experience (or one year at the lower level Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1).
• Ability to pass agency testing, background checks, and maintain a valid driver’s license.
