Child Welfare Services Case Manager – Foster Care

About the role

Under supervision, the Case Manager learns to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for a caseload involving child or adult abuse and neglect. The position is based in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, and supports the Division of Family & Children Services.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate timely, face‑to‑face responses to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement safety plans, conduct search efforts to locate children or families, and use Solution Based Casework (SBC).
• Partner with children and parents to create Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
• Complete genograms to identify support networks and collaborate with community partners to create support systems.
• Ensure visits with children and families are frequent and of high quality to promote safety, permanency, and well‑being.
• Identify and address physical, educational, and mental health needs of children, parents, and foster parents.
• Establish and pursue permanency goals, maintain stable foster placements, and keep siblings together whenever possible.
• Document case management activities within policy time frames and serve on after‑hours on‑call duty.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Pass the standard agency testing protocol for the position.
• Ability to travel using a privately owned vehicle for work‑related duties, including transportation of children.
