Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Family & Children Services, is hiring a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for child and adult abuse or neglect cases in Savannah, Chatham County.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate timely, face‑to‑face responses to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement safety plans, conduct search efforts to locate children/families, and use Solution Based Casework (SBC).
• Partner with children and parents to create Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
• Identify and address physical, educational, and mental health needs of children, parents, and foster parents.
• Establish permanency goals, ensure stable foster placements, and maintain sibling connections when possible.
• Document case activities within policy timeframes and serve on after‑hours on‑call duty.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Pass the standard agency testing protocol and background checks.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to use a personal vehicle for work‑related travel.
• Willingness to work on‑call and handle after‑hours responsibilities.
