Child Support Enforcement Specialist

About the role

The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Child Support Enforcement Specialist to manage a caseload of child support cases in the Fremont area. Under general supervision, you will review applications, establish case records, and enforce paternity and support orders using legal and administrative processes.

Key responsibilities

• Interview non‑custodial parents, obtain financial information, and explain legal remedies for support collection.
• Draft petitions, stipulations, wage assignments, garnishments, and contempt actions under attorney direction and file them with the court.
• Schedule and witness genetic testing for paternity, monitor court timelines, and ensure statutory deadlines are met.
• Research and verify out‑of‑state parent information, initiate administrative enforcement actions such as income withholding and license suspension, and monitor payments.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in health or human services or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to communicate tactfully with reluctant or hostile individuals and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret regulations and make accurate decisions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the CHARTS case management system.
• Proficiency with the N‑FOCUS system.
• Experience using standard computer software programs for data entry and document preparation.
