Chief Campus Police & Security Officer

About the role

The Chief Campus Police & Security Officer reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs and leads the University Police Department. This senior position ensures the safety and security of the entire campus community through strategic leadership, policy development, and operational oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Direct senior managers, sworn and non‑sworn personnel in daily operations of the University Police Department.
• Formulate crime‑prevention strategies, patrol requirements, and training programs.
• Develop policies, structures, and staffing models to maximize departmental effectiveness.
• Conduct crime analysis, produce statistics, and generate reports.
• Manage all administrative duties and coordinate with Human Resources on employment matters.
• Supervise crime scenes, evidence collection, and liaison with external government agencies.
• Collaborate with university leadership (President, VP, Deans) on safety matters.
• Plan and execute security operations for large‑scale events such as commencements, concerts, and sporting events.
• Oversee Parking Enforcement Services and ensure compliance during university events.
• Participate in Workplace Violence and Violence Against Women committees and develop campus‑wide prevention programs.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of modern law‑enforcement concepts and community policing.
• Proven leadership experience managing a large, complex police organization.
• Strong ability to develop policies, analyze crime data, and coordinate multi‑agency efforts.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior university officials and external partners.
