About the role

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Charge Nurse to lead nursing operations at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville. This full‑time position oversees patient care, coordinates staff, and ensures high‑quality clinical services for a diverse client population.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and guide nursing staff on the assigned shift, delegating tasks and monitoring performance.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans for ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled clients.
• Administer prescribed medications, document treatments, and ensure accurate medical records.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other health‑care team members to coordinate comprehensive client care.
• Prepare treatment rooms, maintain sterile instruments, and manage supply inventories.
• Provide health education, disease‑prevention counseling, and case‑management support as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Current Georgia nursing licensure.
• Experience in mental‑health or behavioral health settings preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
