Certified Respiratory Therapist (PRN) – Monroe, LA

About the role

This PRN position provides respiratory care, oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Ochsner in Monroe, Louisiana.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, including monitoring and weaning of oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation.
• Draw, analyze and report arterial blood gases and EKGs, and deliver intermittent therapy.
• Assist with changing artificial airways and provide care as ordered by physicians.
• Document clinical information, educate patients and co‑workers, and attend staff meetings.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policies.

Required profile

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist and certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care (CRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification for NICU assignments (if applicable).
