Certified Respiratory Therapist – DME (Meridian)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a DME Certified Respiratory Therapist to coordinate and deliver respiratory care services in the Meridian area. The role involves setting up positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy, educating patients, and monitoring compliance to ensure optimal outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and configure respiratory and PAP therapy equipment for patients.
• Monitor patient compliance data and conduct follow‑up with patients and physicians.
• Communicate with physicians and serve as a resource on PAP therapy.
• Participate in process‑improvement initiatives and resolve patient issues.
• Adapt interactions to respect patient privacy and cultural preferences.
• Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations affecting respiratory care.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Science or related field and graduation from an AMA‑approved respiratory therapy program.
• Current valid state license/certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Reliable transportation for home visits and on‑call availability.
• Preferred experience with CPAP or BiPAP therapy and fluency in another language.

Required skills

• Computer data‑entry proficiency and Windows‑style application use.
• Operation and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment.
• Setup and management of Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy devices.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid state license as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
