Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide routine treatment under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. You will deliver direct patient care, document progress, and support the therapeutic team in a fast‑paced, patient‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform occupational therapy treatments as prescribed by physicians and supervised by a licensed OT.
• Document patient status changes, progress notes, and summaries for physicians.
• Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with documentation standards.
• Communicate patient updates and assist with reassessments.
• Participate in staff and committee projects and achieve productivity targets.
• Educate and train colleagues within the discipline.
• Adapt interactions to respect patient privacy and individual needs.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
• Eligibility for state occupational therapy assistant licensure and current license prior to start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers and standard software applications.
• Ability to navigate web‑based applications and electronic health record systems.
