Certified Nursing Assistant – Mental Health (Day Shift)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to join its mental health recovery team in Augusta. This full‑time day‑shift position provides hands‑on care to adults with severe mental illness and related physical health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and safe transfers.
• Provide nutrition support, including tube‑feeding assistance when required.
• Reposition bedridden patients to maintain comfort and skin integrity.
• Take vital signs, record weights, and collect specimens as directed.
• Support patients in practicing self‑care skills to promote independence.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, and counselors, documenting care accurately in the medical record system.

Required profile

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
• Minimum one year of experience in a skilled nursing, hospital, or mental‑health setting.
• Ability to complete 24 hours of continuing education annually to keep certification active.
• Calm, patient, and supportive demeanor when working with behavioral or mental‑health challenges.
